What:
The Outreach Committee plans programs, etc., that
reach out to the unchurched in our neighborhood, helping them to know Christ and
working to grow our community of faith at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran.
How often:
Generally the committee meets once a month.
What:
Individuals or families greet worshippers at the west
and two south building entrances.
How often:
You would greet two or three times a year.
Please indicate preference for first or second service.
What:
First time visitors to Shepherd of the Valley are
gifted with a loaf of bread, taken to their home by a lay person along with
information about our congregation. People
are needed to both bake the bread and deliver it.
How often:
If you choose to bake bread, you might be asked to do
so once every few months. If you
choose to deliver bread, you would be assigned a Sunday to follow up with any visitors about once every two months or so, depending
on how many volunteers we receive.
What:
After both services, we have a table set up in the
narthex with coffee, juice, and some kind of simple snack as a way to encourage
hospitality among our members and visitors.
People are needed to staff the table (at the end of first service and at
the end of second service) and to provide the treats.
How often:
Frequency will depend on how many volunteer.
Most likely, you would take a turn either providing the treats and/or
staffing the table once every couple of months.
What: When new members join our congregation, a “shepherd” is
assigned to them to help them feel welcome and become an active participant in
our church.
How often:
As needed.
