How often:  The committee meets once a month.

Communion Presenters – Carol Bailey, Coordinator

What:  Two people are needed to carry the wine and wafers forward during the service (prior to Holy Communion being celebrated).

How often:  Normally, once or twice a year.  Please indicate a preference for first or second service.

Ushers – Marcia and Lyle Smith, Coordinators

What:  Hand out the bulletins, monitor speaking/amplifying system, count attendance, collect offering, and direct worshippers during communion.

How often:  Once every two or three months.  Please indicate preference for first or second service.

Readers – Jane Wylie, Coordinator

What:  Having received copies of the Scripture lessons in the mail prior to the appointed Sunday, the reader stands in front of the congregation and reads them from the pulpit Bible during the service.

How often:  Once every two or three months.  Please indicate preference for first or second service.

Altar Guild – Sherry Scheider, Coordinator

What:  Assist in creating and maintaining a climate of worship for the congregation by caring for the chancel and its furnishings, communion ware, and linens.  There are two subcommittees and two sets of responsibilities working on a six-month rotation system:  1)  Flower distribution; and 2) Communion preparation.

How often:  Depending on the organization of each subcommittee, it is likely that each person will be called upon to serve in some capacity about once a month.

Senior Choir – Mike McIntyre, Director

What:  Adults sing on Sunday mornings, except during the summer months, alternating between first and second services and at occasional special services.

How often:  Practice is on Wednesdays, September-May, from 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Bell Choir – Kathy Goral, Director

What:  Play in the Bell Choir, a multi-generational group that plays monthly during morning worship services, Sept — May.

How often:  Practice is on Wednesdays, September-May, from 6:15-7:15 p.m.

Vocal and Instrumental Solo/Ensemble – Mike McIntyre, Director

What:  Provide musical worship experiences during Sunday services, especially when the choir is not scheduled and in the summer (for example, as prelude or during offering or leading congregational hymns and musical liturgies).

Schedule times and practices with the choir director.  Indicate vocal and/or instrumental interest and preference for first or second service.

Drama, Special Happenings – Valerie Hong, Coordinator

What:  This is a very fun and growing group taking part in worship services about once a month and at special times.  We try to have a variety of adults, youth, and children.  We need people for drama, choral and psalm readings, dance, and costumes.  Memorizing is not required.

How:  You can be involved in one or more selections a year as you choose.  Practices are usually held after second service or between services as needed.

Sanctuary Visual Effects – Lois Johnson and Catharine Edlen    Coordinators

What:  We need more ideas and helping hands to plan and create sanctuary visual arts for all seasons of the year, especially arranging the banners in the sanctuary from week to week.

How:  Work individually or with small groups of men, women, and youth to plan and schedule responsibilities and duties to accommodate personal time commitments.

Wedding Coordination Team – Patte Lund, Coordinator

What:  This person is a liaison between bridal party and church, who meets with the couple prior to the wedding, opens the church the day of the wedding, sees to any needs of the bridal party, and closes the church after the event.  There is a stipend for this service paid by the bridal couple.

Assisting Ministers – Pastor Wold, Coordinator

What:  Would you be interested in helping to lead the Sunday morning worship with Pastor Wold?  We would like to start using lay people to be an “assisting minister.”  Duties would include: wearing an alb (white robe) for worship, leading the prayers, and being the communion assistant (e.g. helping to distribute the wine/grape juice).

How often:  The hope is that we would have enough people interested in this that each assisting minister would be assigned to no more than one service a month.  A training session would be held to begin this new ministry opportunity.
